About Us

Central Lancashire Rambling Club is based in and around North/South Preston, and Leyland and we currently have approximately 90 members. The purpose of the club is to plan and organise transport for 4 graded walks every fortnight throughout the year, in pre-chosen areas of countryside. In the summer we travel as far as Wales, Derbyshire, Yorkshire and of course the Lake District. In the winter, when the days are shorter, we explore the great countryside closer to home. The 4 grades of walk range from the energetic ‘A’ walks down to the more sedate ‘C’ walks, where the day usually starts with tea and toast. All the walk leaders aim to be back at the coach in time for some liquid refreshment before travelling home – whether it’s tea and cake or a pint. They know they’ll be in trouble if they don’t!

Each year we plan a programme of places to visit for the forthcoming 12 months, and invite walk leaders to plan a graded walk in that area. Nearer the time the leaders provide more detailed descriptions of the walks which can be viewed on this site or on the newsletter that’s circulated on the coaches on the day of the walk. It’s then up to you which of the walks you’d like to join. The club is run by a committee who meet regularly every 2 months and there is an Annual General Meeting each year where all members are encouraged to express their views. The club is open to all ages and if you would like to know more about us or would like to book an outing then please contact any of the Officers, who’ll be pleased to talk to you.

If you book an outing here are a few things that you may need to make your day more enjoyable – unfortunately this does not include your favourite family pet – club & coach company rules is no pets.
